Episode 366 - Leslie Yancy

Leslie Yancy is a respiratory therapist and the woman behind Hero 2 Hero. We discuss her journey into medicine, airway lessons, critical care, ICU, the impact of COVID - 19, the mental toll of the hospital setting, compassion fatigue, mental health and much more.

Leslie Yancy, MS, RRT, AE-C, CTRC, and the Wonder Woman behind Hero 2 Hero, is an energetic, fun and caring fireball. Country born and raised she offers unique perspectives. As most hero’s coming from humble beginnings, Leslie has worked hard putting herself through college while raising four wonderful children. With over 18 years as a respiratory therapist she has with trauma, adult, pediatric, neonatal, burn critical care and many other units. 

​Earning a master’s degree in adult education in 2010 from Marshall University while continuing to work in patient care, our Wonder Woman also taught at Shawnee State in Portsmouth, Ohio for nearly seven years. She has been an instructor for BLS, PALS and ACLS through the American Heart Association and has also recently received her Stop the Bleed instructor certification.  

​After leaving direct patient care in 2017, her focus shifted towards helping her fellow healthcare workers and first responders by educating herself on the effects of continuous stress in the workplace. Leslie recently got her certification as a certified trauma recovery coach. She has also received training certifications in yoga specifically focused on decompression methods for those battling PTSD.

​Leslie offers educational lectures on stress in the workplace as well as programs that can be adapted into specific departments, situations or personal lives. Her goal is to encourage you to do the work that sets your soul on fire without you being consumed by the flames.
