As a criminal attorney for the past 19 years, I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of people and what they are capable of.
For the first 15 years of my career, I was a Deputy District Attorney “Prosecutor” in Los Angeles County. Most of my time in the DA’s office was spent prosecuting sex crimes, domestic violence, domestic homicides, and stalking.
The work was fascinating to me, both the subject and the people that I got to meet. Everyone in these cases is gravely affected: the victim, the defendant, their families, the lawyers, even the jurors.
The cases are graphic, disturbing, haunting, and sometimes, downright depressing, yet somehow they seem to pull the people that work on them together.
I loved being a prosecutor. I always will. However, in 2015, I felt myself wanting more, so I left the DA’s office to open my own criminal defense practice. Deep down inside I wanted more.
While I loved the idea of fighting for victims and public safety, I couldn’t ignore the fact that these issues start at a much deeper level.
Holistically, something was missing; that something was awareness and education. Thus began my mission to educate and bring awareness to these issues that I was experiencing daily in my criminal defense practice.
To this day, I represent individuals who are charged with a crime or under investigation by the police, however, an equally important part of my practice is speaking on topics like the dangers of sexting, and the truth and consequences of sexual assault and domestic violence.
